#MeToo and the Evolution of the Human Male

Human males are evolving. Throughout most of human history, the most sexually aggressive men who forced themselves on women were the most evolutionarily successful. They reproduced more often and with multiple partners, so their traits for sexual aggression passed on to more offspring, which continued to the next generation, and so on.

But today with the #MeToo movement (though it began long before that) things are changing. Throughout civilized human history, evolution has been gradually weeding out the most sexually aggressive men — the “alpha males.” These men tended to rule society: the tribe leaders, warriors, and kings. Today, those same men (genetically) are CEOs, athletes, politicians, generals, actors, and other celebrities. Alpha males were the most likely to do dangerous things like hunt, go to war, and do extreme sports, so they were also the most likely to die early from accidents or violence. It was a trade-off: Risk the early death that comes with aggression in exchange for better odds at sexual reproduction. That paid off for most of history…until recently.

Now, females are rejecting the aggressive behavior of alpha males and are preferring the less aggressive beta males. In our civilized society, physical strength is no longer necessary for survival. Therefore, beta males are out-competing the alphas in evolution. At this rate, beta males will eventually replace alphas completely, though they won’t be in charge of society. They will be at the mercy of “alpha females.”

That’s why alpha males are so threatened by feminism. It’s not just that they are grasping to maintain their power in society, they are literally fighting for their lives (or their genetic lineage). If the feminist movement continues, alpha males will eventually be wiped from the gene pool. Only beta males will remain, and because of their passive nature, alpha females will dominate them to rule society. Women will take over the top positions in business and politics.

Beta males can never overtake an alpha male themselves; they must team up with females to do so. That’s what society is doing right now. We are in an evolutionary shift. I’m not passing judgment either way on whether this is a good or bad thing because frankly, I don’t know. I’m simply observing what’s happening in society. Most people are too caught up in the day to day minutia and fail to see the big picture.

Remember: We’re all just apes who shave and dress in clothes then run around acting civilized, pretending we’re not animals. But we are. Human beings are just as much at the whim of Darwinian programming as a chimpanzee or your pet dog. Also remember that evolution never stops. All life is constantly evolving — always has and always will be. The rise of feminism and the extinction of alpha males may simply be a natural step in the evolution of Homo sapiens.
