Trump vs. Biden Debate: More Chaos Please
The main takeaway from the first 2020 U.S. presidential debate is that the entire concept of a democratically-elected presidency is preposterous. The idea that either Donald Trump or Joe Biden (both near 80 years old) will be the leader to rule over 300+ million people for the next for years is absurd. The idea that any one human rule over millions is absurd-as is the idea that the will of the majority overrule the minority. Add the fact that the appointment of a Supreme Court justice has so much of an effect on people’s lives seems to be a major problem. The problem isn’t who holds these positions, it’s the positions themselves.
The best hope for the future debates and subsequent election is that everything between Trump and Biden gets nastier, crazier, and more chaotic so more people wake up and recognize how terrible both candidates are. Then question the system that led to these two men being the “best” candidates for president. Then ultimately realize that the current system no longer works for this country (if it ever did).
No matter who is elected, half the country will absolutely despise the next president. The division between the Left and Right will inevitably grow in 2021 and beyond. That might actually be good news because it will increase the prospects for Balkanization. Breaking up the country into smaller independent states may be the only peaceful future for America.
It’s clear that the Left and Right-the Democrats and Republicans-are too far apart, too polarized, too different in their ideology on every single issue. They cannot get along, and the division will only grow in the future. It makes too much sense for both sides to separate and form their own countries in which they can follow their own ideology without opposition. Cease having to think or worry about what the other side thinks, says, and does.
I don’t think an actual bloody Civil War is necessary (though sporadic violent riots are likely to persist in the near-future). Secession can be achieved peacefully-especially if the Left does it first. Otherwise, the entire Cathedral (the corporate press and academia) would protest and try to prevent a right-wing state from seceding first-more so than the other way around. Republican states would likely say good riddance and be happy for a state like California to leave the Union.
I don’t support Trump or Biden and will not be voting for either of them in 2020. I am a libertarian anarchist and want no president to rule over me. But as long as the presidency exists, Trump being re-elected may be a better result for 2020. It will cause more chaos and division than the alternative, which may (in the long run) be a good thing. It could motivate left-wing Democratic states like California to seriously consider seceding, which could in turn spur a snowball effect among other states. The future will be decentralized, and I’d like it to arrive sooner rather than later so I can move to the state with the most freedom, both socially and economically.
